7. Why might Frederick Douglass have been “the most famous black man
of his time”?

Douglass might have been the most famous black man of his time because
he was a slave, sent to work as a servant and laborer, but somehow
learned to read and write. In 1838 he escaped to the North, where he
became a lecturer, newspaper editor, and writer. He wrote
autobiographies about his gruesome life as a slave. He made so much of
himself when he was given so little.

I agree. Douglass was a very inspirational man who made a lot of his
life.

I agree with Justin. Douglass was a slave himself and lived to tell
his story. He also helped his fellow slaves still held within
slavery.

I agree, Douglass was a slave who freed himself and came to the north,
where he joined the abolitionist movement to help his fellow slaves.
