Hi

1. We would like to use aptly to generate .deb packages on centos (we create .debs using pbuilder on centos) - does anyone on the community have experience with that ? how do you install aptly - simply pull from github and compile ?

2. Are there RPM packages for aptly.

3. I was looking for the packaging files for debian for aptly - can you help me locate them

thanks,

Shlomi

Hi Shlomi,

1. aptly does not generate deb-packages. It is only used to generate an archive to serve deb packages to apt clients. (aptly imports debs and pubishes these)

2. Never heard of it, but you can use `fpm` [0] to build a deb-file from a aptly build-dir.

3. Do you mean https://www.aptly.info/download/ ?

[0] https://github.com/jordansissel/fpm/wiki -- yes it is ruby and have its own environment etc pp, but I use "rbenv" ( https://github.com/sstephenson/rbenv ) and the ruby builder for it, to save me from this hassle. This, I run in an VM or container as my build environment.

Best,
Bernd
