AWWWWWWWWWW YES!!!!!!!!!! Let's do themmmm. Well I already know what my weekend is gonna be - gonna be sitting on sum planez to Burkina Faso (21 hourz in flight, excluding pit stops in Ethiopia and Niger, yeahhhhh buddy). Then I will be in Ouagadougou (probably best name of a city, EVER?)

Ow ow owwww! Yes please I need some weekend updates in my life! 

I'm just going so crazy in Oakland, CA. Working at my new job at Monsoon Company. It's a lot of ups and downs. 

Such a small startup and growing fast. We are at this critical point where we start building culture and shaping what the company will look like. I'm basically the right-hand to the CEO, shadowing most of the time and doing whatever work I can.

I work. a lot. I commute to Seattle every other week. Life away from Ben sucks but I am trying to make something work. Feeling so crazy and now I miss not only Virginia but also Seattle and it's just a lot of sadness but such an amazing opportunity. 

Went out with coworkers tonight. I have a meeting at the office tomorrow morning. I'm staying with a friend of my parents' this weekend, let's see how this goes. 

I need some good news! What have ya got?! Ariel I agree Ouagadougu sounds like the best city ever! Do tell.

In less that 24 hours I will be flying to Belize to start my year long backpacking trip through central and South America!!! WOOT WOOT! 

To be able to say that is mind boggling! I had a dream last night I hadn't fully completed my ticket and I didn't have a flight and they would stop me at the airport. Woke up in a cold sweat only to hurl myself at my laptop and make sure I was all set. Online checkin complete, so I feel more at peace again :) the funny part about me and this trip is the fact I have always been a natural worrier and planner but this trip has really been trying to embrace the opposite so last minute jale is having a rough day of it to say the least :P

I will literally miss you guys like crazy! I find it almost ironic the last time we used this a ton I was in Spain so didn't get the chance to participate much and now I am off again, into Internet-less regions of the world! But just know even if I don't always respond it is always good to hear from home, send me emails whenever you would like -- I like you guys and what not :) 

I probably won't see you guys again until kaitys big day! Gosh that's an even bigger deal!!

Here it comes!

I went to NYC this weekend to play with Logan and Robert. Smerce was supposed to join but pricey car tire replacements intervened (not trying to rub it in with this email, babes, but can't really help it...).

Got in on the BOLT bus, met the boys at their apartment for a drink, went to sushi dinner, and then GAME NIGHT. Basically, once a month, a bunch of FYPers and some of Logan/Robert's work friends get together at their place and all play a game (a secret right up until the moment it is played). There is always lots of drinking and delicious snacks. And at the end of the night Logan subtly turns down the lights and turns up the music and there is dancing. So I saw EMac and Babs and Anna McGrady and Jacob Lyon! A word of warning to you all--Logan makes DEADLY cocktails.

Saturday, late getting up. Brunch at 2PM (yikes) at a place called Jacob's Pickles (Ariel, close your ears). They serve lots of pickled things and hearty brunch sandwiches that are so stuffed and smothered that they're not meant to be picked up and FRIED PICKLES. So good. Kaity, you went there? I didn't get the Bloody BLT (with an EGG and BACON and LETTUCE inside of the drink), because it would've been a meal in and of itself. Walked around the entire Upper West (probably the whole perimeter, from the water to the park). Tired out so we went back to the apartment and JOHN LEHMANN came to visit! He's moving to SEATTLE (Kaity, I promised him your digits cause he knows no one in the city) and wanted to say a farewell to the boys. He is a gem and I'm so sad he and EMac didn't work out. Then off to dinner in the West Village and Marie's Crisis (the piano bar that only plays show tunes and everyone sings along).

Sunday morning was for solo wandering and catching up with high school friends. Hopped on the bus and then drove over to JALE'S to SAY BYE to our DARLING ANGEL, who was jetting off at 2AM. She was all packed and ready to go with her super duper pack. Champ. Jale, we love you and wish you all the best on your travels, my dear! Get that blog up and running soon for us folks at home!

Other news--I might be kind of seeing someone in DC. I'll tell you all details IF it goes somewhere more serious, but he's cooking for me and I'm meeting some of his friends tomorrow...eek.

uugh so jealous of your ny trip!!

this weekend for me was plenty busy though. basically all of it was
taken up by one of my high school friend's wedding. aaaah it was so
beautiful! and i was really excited, because this was the first
wedding that i've been to that i've actually cared about. it was an
adorable barn wedding and completely DIY. literally, my friend did
everything. except for the catered BBQ dinner. YUUMMM! and it was from
my favorite bbq joint in town. totally snatching that idea for my
wedding. but there was a great band and a lot of dancing. so. much.
fun. weddings! i love weddings! drinks all around!

there was basically a slumber party back at our apartment after the
wedding. and we stayed up late talking about old high school stories.
and now thanks to clever maneuvering and choice words on my roommate's
and my part, our other roommate got laid and she and i are now Eskimo
sisters!

sunday was a mess of brunch and hungover, naps, and laundry.

and then i went over to my parents for sunday dinner where they
surprised me by having rented 12 years a slave. say goodbye to the
happy memories of my weekend, my soul is now in tatters. except now i
have a hard on for Lupita Nyong'o. Which im okay with.

Mine was a milestone... FINALLY finished with the tfa Saturdays!! Ya know nothing says we support teachers quite like a 10-5 session on a weekend. My seminars were "teaching financial literacy to your high schoolers" and "the college admissions process" ... um, I teach first grade thx. Also they spelled my name Courtnenay. Peace bitches - about to be such a better teacher without you in my life. 

We celebrated with 3 margs each. Got wasted and laughed at by the waiter- success. 

Sunday was chills mcgills catching up on scandal..get it mellie!

I'm lit'rally going to miss Jale lit'rally so much. In fact, I miss everyone so much!

Leah - yes, I am obsessed with Jacob's Pickles. John and I are texting about Seattle. Really excited to meet up with him up there (as often as I'm up there though!).

Sarah - hope you jotted down some ideas! I'm going to need all the DIY help I can get!

My weekend rocked. I went to First Fridays in Oakland, basically a monthly outdoor festival with music, art, and food trucks. Got drunk with coworkers. Had a good time.

Saturday I had to go into the office to meet with the Sacramento Kings (basketball team) to map out the app that we're building with them. But when that was over, I went into San Francisco to stay with this adorable lesbian couple, Diana and Rachel, and their adorable dog, Bailey, and two cats. Diana is a buddy of my dad's from VT. We had lunch on the Waterfront and talked about what my parents are up to these days. 

Saturday night I met up with Jessie Wright and Maggie Graham at Jessie's house, pregamed, did some acro-yoga with Jessie's roommate, and then went to Katie Dodds's "Bon Voyage" party (she is moving to FRANCE in a month or so). Ran into a TON of UVA people, but I only knew half. so weird when you though you knew or at least you've seen everyone from our year, but it's totally not the case. Danced to music DJ'd by Mehul, and danced. Then it was time to go clubbing and Jessie, Maggie and I peaced out to eat pizza.

Sunday I biked 10 miles with Diana and Rachel, and Bailey in her doggie carriage trailer. lunch, and a ferry ride back into town. Best day! Super sunburned!

Remember that time when Courtney, Ariel, and I all had Chris's at the same time? It's that Chris. He was a good friend in high school and we slept together a few times before England. But it was only a very casual thing, and it was mutually understood to be over after England. Anyway, he and my roommate have been doing this stupid I like you but am not going to do anything about it dance for a few months now. And my other roommate and I talked to him at the wedding and told him to be intent and just go for it. And he did. So my roommate and I are now Eskimo sisters. Apparently it's the term you use when two girls have slept with the same guy

Congrats Courtenay! You kick ass teacher! You deserved more than margs for the celebration. 

Kaity, I'm so jealous of your new, adventurous life! You're meeting and seeing so many awesome people and exploring new places! Well done you. John-boy just needs a friend to tell him how to get on his feet in Seattle (he was showing some anxiety), so you don't have to worry about not being there to hang.

Guy is someone I met online. More to come!
