Weekend Update 10/18-10/20

I'll get this started this week

Friday: During my lunch break, i went to a yarn store to buy some yarn to make scarves and hats! I love just cuddling up and knitting this time of year, and there are a couple of projects I want to work on. But dude, yall. Yarn is expensive if youre gonna get good stuff that will last. oh well, im excited. Friday night I dont do anything but knit and binge some Project Runway to get my creative juices flowing. 

Saturday: didnt do much in the morning. but at 1:00 my roommate, her boyfriend and I went to a regional beer fest. So great. They got breweries from all over Tennessee to come and set up booths. We bought tickets to get in, and then they give you a mug and you have unlimited beer until 5:00. We got to taste so many interesting beers. So many great chocolate-y porters and stouts! There was one chocolate mexican chili porter that was AMAZING. it was so rich though, i could only drink a few sips of it before it was too much. We left around 3:30 and headed back to the apartment. I guess i was really tired because I pass the fuck out from 4:00 unitl 8:00.

After I rejoined the land of the living, my roommates and I started getting ready for a party we were having that night. The party was a lot of fun. A good number of people were able to show up and we played some Cards Against Humanity for a bit until we were interrupted by two black lab puppies that came bounding up the stairs and into the apartment. Some of our friends that were out on the stoop smoking said that these two had wandered up without tags and lost so they let them inside. They are very sweet, well-fed and well-groomed, so they obviously belong to someone and have only just recently been lost.

So on Sunday: my rooommates and I start trying to work on finding the owners. Heres a picture of them by the way

They are super adorable, and I want to keep one. The rest of sunday was spent playing with dogs and knitting.

So this weekend I'd been really hoping that I was going to drive to Memphis and do the beer thing but then I had to be a no life teacher. Friday I went to happy hour with some teachers then Saturday I went into school to work with some more teachers...wooo what a party -it's a good thing I like the staff here cause it's the 2nd of 3 consecutive weekends I'm spending with them! But Saturday I went to dinner with Chris and some friends and we saw don Jon...interesting....and if you only casually know a guy do not even think about going so much awkwardness haha. Sunday I played old married couple again- he made me pumpkin scones and we went classroom/ grocery shopping then to the gym together. I'm finally growing up haha.

Seriously give me my puppies back.

Taking a break from work because I've been doing so much of the graphic design today and the bosses are out...

Sarah I love your creativity & want a hat! Also, jealous of that yummy-sounding chocolate chili beer. I want a beer fest. There are so many good ones in DC--Ariel? Jale? Saide? Can we do one before it gets super cold and October is gone?

Courtenay the SCONES, that's amazing! Definitely wanna meet Chris, so bring him up to DC some time. And I know all about the teacher-weekend-working from Sarah, who was either working or hanging out or planning with her co-workers ALL THE TIME back during her TFA days. Oh, and I lived with my fellow teachers last year 24/7 at boarding school so... It's GREAT that you like them, YOU'RE LUCKY!!

Thursday, supposed to HH with Saide and our friend Michelle, but little miss employee-of-the-year had to keep working. So I enjoyed my cheap, DELICIOUS Korean dumplings & sojutinis at Mandu. New favourite.

Friday I was supremely boring, got home from work late because I got slammed at lunch time and had to scramble to get things done before the end of the day (typical Friday). Went to dinner with my Gma and then went home and watch PBS' 'Great Performances.' LOOT AT ME GRANNY-ING HARD, ARIEL!

Saturday drove to Baltimore so I could pick up shares at farmers market, get a flu shot, get haircut, get eyebrows done, and sort some mail/packages that came during the week. Caught up on TV shows. Made my own veggie pad thai. Then went out with my friend Marie & her boyfriend & his friends in a neighborhood that I don't like so much. Got hit on by college kids. Friends tried to set me up with some guy but he was hella awkward so not. even. close.

Sunday had a gloriously lazy morning. Had yummy coffee (in one of those gigantic mugs that people usually use as soup bowls). Got myself up and drove out with a friend to pick up some pumpkins for carving! On the way back, SARAH COINCIDENCE, we found a black lab in the middle of the road, probably 4 or 5. He had tags but the phone number went straight to voice mail ALL DAY so we took him home to hang out while we carved pumpkins & watched the Ravens/Steelers game (a tough loss, btw). Still no answer from the owner. He was very sweet, well-behaved and clearly cared for because he had a gorgeous coat and good teeth. My friend was gonna take care of him for the night until she could a) reach owner or b) get to his vet (on tags) the next day and try to identify him. After the game I drove home, picked up some farmers market groceries, saw my parents briefly who had JUST gotten in from visiting my sister in Asheville, then got my ass back to CP.

After this weekend, all I want is a dog. Like now. Ariel, thoughts?

Hello all!! this shall be a short one:

Friday - helped out with another teams project and got home late and went to sleep (i'm becoming an old lady).

Had a super productive weekend YAAY - bought new sneakers and have started going to the gym during the work day so that I don't sit on my butt all day!

Went to brunch with a co-worker on Sunday and which was great. Bought a new book called Room which is really awesome - I recommend it (my friend Michelle recommended it to me). Also cleaned the apt, cooked for the whole week and did all of the chores :)

This week is crazy BUT i am going to give a presentation to a client on Thursday which i'm super excited about and have been getting new projects to work on! 

My life = work (but i'm loving it)

Ben's mom is visiting us this weekend which is super fun, and she's been here so much that we don't need to be touristy. 

Stayed in on Friday, cooked chicken and played with Potus. 

Brunch on Saturday, a nice walk, and went to Discovery park on a nature hike / check out a potential engagement photo session. Loved the hike, but we're more urban folk. 

Dinner at Japonessa, the Japanese-Spanish fusion restaurant. Yummy strawberry habanero sauce on sushi. 

Sunday stayed in to marathon the entire season of Orange is the New Black. Awkward at first to watch with your mother in law to be... But whatevs. She's chill with it. Ben and Kim had work to do anyway. 

Drinks and then dinner at two Tom Douglas restaurants thanks to your thoughtful gift card! Leah Sarah Ariel and Saide were so sweet to send it to us for our engagement. 

Last night made salmon, scallops, and fresh pasta from Pike Place market. Yummy. 

Kim leaves on Thursday, so we're still chillin out!

I love you alllll!!!! Oh my gosh so many DOGGIES! Want!!! 

Wowzers so last week was craycray because of the conference (which was sewsew GOOD, so much talking about water, i loved it so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nerdddding out). It was so fun and there were a bunch of cool youngin's there who I hung out and drank with!!!!

Friday -- got in from North Carolina and just lounged with Chris and passed out earlytimes!! 

Saturday -- woke up sOOOOper late, mr. chris and i make breakfast (he's such a pro breakfast maker). Went to a co-worker's baby shower which was weird but fun for sure! Pretty much everyone else was talking about kid stuff and I was like, errrrrrr, ewwww children....haha. I also didn't realize about bringing a gift. I'm a huge douche. But it was cute, she's so happy and so pregnant! Then JALE came over for DINNER and we drank and then went to a house party in Alexandria. It was so nice to actually walk to a party near my hooooood! 

Sunday -- chilled out, went on a fabulous long runnnn, and got caught up on a bit of work janky jank and life shiz. I also got a bit of a bad case of the Sunday evening blues haha, y'all feel me, amirite.
