Is there a way to delete data stored on aprs.fi?  I'm asking about telemetry data, but this could extend to other types.. I disconnected a sensor, and the resulting odd value that was sent briefly really skews off the charts..

Thank you.

No, it's not possible to delete any data that was received from APRS. If
it was allowed, anyone could delete or modify anyone else's data later,
which would be quite suboptimal.

aprs.fi is an archive of historical APRS data, including any flaws that
have happened, and I don't see any manageable way to make it something
else. Except for any flaws with can be detected and filtered by a machine.

The telemetry graph viewer could be improved to filter some odd values,
maybe, but the algorithm might be hard, as some odd values could be very
interesting to see, too.

Hi

this is interesting topic, since it could happen very easy to get odd values when testing and tweaking the telemetry data, equations etc.
It is understandable that making the deletion of data possible just by the web interface with the current simple registration could be somewhat dangerous.
But what about allow deletion of the data by some special non ususal format of the telemetry data (to make it as simple as possible for you Hessu :-))?
For example zero serial number #000 or even better and safer, if the last eight bits will be 99999999 then the history of telemetery on aprs.fi will be deleted. 99999999 is format that normaly could not happen, since the bits could be only 1 or 0.
What you think?

Hi,

I'm sorry, but that will not do. Someone will think it would be great to
delete everyone else's data, and I'd then have to go through a lot of work
to manually recover that from the backups.

I'm going to provide methods to adjust data display at some point
(providing min/max values which will cut the displayed values but not
adjust the stored historical raw data). That'll help to fix scaling when
invalid data has been transmitted.

Yes, unfortunately you are right. It is sad that there could be ppl which can do this :( Sad that we have to assume that this may occur ...

When I set my preferences to Los Angeles time, Imperial and F. for temp, those defaults will not save when I hit save.  I have no problems with any other program saving cookies or data.

Something I am missing?

When I configure a node on the bench, I usually use a unique call sign so it doesn't mess with any of the stats once it goes on line.   I.e.: I'll use Qtest while I'm testing, then switch it to the real name once it gets installed (Quail).   That avoids bad telemetry values, incorrect heard maps, test packets showing up under raw data, etc.    Since I use tactical call signs for calls, it's still legally ID'd (in the US) with my call in the position packets both during testing and once it's live.

Probably a bug somewhere on aprs.fi, but it does work for most users. But
I need more details to debug it. It works for me, so I need your help to
reproduce the problem so that I can finally fix it.
