Good afternoon all - I am new to APRS.  Just installed my Yaesu FTM-400DR this morning.  Pressing the transmit beacon button we are able to see my call sign show up on another APRS enabled radio.  However, when I go to aprs.fi, the states my call sign was not found in the location database.  I am not showing any packets in the raw packet list either.

Again, I am using a Yaesu FTM-400DR radio, it IS transmitting, it is connected to the satellites, but I cannot see my call sign on the aprs.fi.

Lastly - I did just set my account up last night.  Not sure if there is an "approval" process when you sign up and because it is a holiday weekend, it won't be activated yet.  I received the email and my account is fully activated per the email.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you in advance!

hi, are you positive that an digirepeater/igate heard you also (that it will upload your packet to APRS-IS ) and so you could see on aprs.fi ?

The packets sent by the radio were probably not received by an igate
station which would forward the packets to the APRS-IS network on the
Internet, where aprs.fi gets them from. Perhaps there is no APRS network
coverage in your area, or the perhaps it is on a different frequency, or
something. If there is no coverage (digipeaters & igates), it is possible
that it needs to be set up.

aprs.fi shows all data received from APRS-IS (as long as it is not
filtered out due to technical errors, rate limiting, etc). An aprs.fi
user account is not required for archival of APRS-IS data - if the
packets land on the APRS-IS, aprs.fi will get them and record them.

This group is only for questions specific to aprs.fi (the web site and the
iOS app), so please send further questions to one of the more generic APRS
forums, or a forum specific to your radio.
