Short Callsign issue on APRS.fi on IOS

Hi All!

I have a short vanity call sign of N5FAB. When I try to input this into the App for beaconing usage, it rejects it as it is too short. Is there a solution for this problem? My other radios do not complain about the callsign not being 6 characters.

Hello,

Can you describe precisely which view within the app are you trying to
enter it in? I've just checked and the views I found the minimum was 3
characters. I know some people with 4-character US callsigns use it.

Mine is 4 characters, and I've never had a problem with APRSDroid or aprs.fi.

Have you added an SSID to the end of your callsign?

Andrew,

Looking at the screenshot, it shows the end of your callsign-SSID, as
N5FAB-i, greyed out just next to the error message.

Note that the error message says "... and an optional Secondary System ID
number (1-15)".

You still have the -i SSID set, which is not AX.25 compliant. It
intentionally uses a non-AX.25 compliant SSID at first for web stations,
so that they don't get confused with APRS-IS stations so easily.

At the bottom of the beacon view there's a Rename button. Use it to change
the SSID from "-i" to a number between 1 and 15, for example "N5FAB-5".
