Try to spend time for each point mentioned below. It really inspires you and gives you a positive approach to your life and boosts your self confidence also helps you understand how you easy it is to "be yourself" than what others think you are.  Hope you find it interesting and inspiring.

Let me share a new story and some important life lessons with you...

“Today is my re-birthday, the day I celebrate the decision I made at 8am exactly 10 years ago as I was holding my father’s pistol to my forehead.”

Wow!  That’s the opening line to an email I received last night from a reader named Shawn.  We’ve worked with dozens of clients over the years who suffer from depression, so Shawn’s words really struck a chord and brought me back to the stories of those we’ve helped in the past.

Later on in his email, Shawn goes on to say, “… and I realize now that I went from being really depressed, to loving a lot about my life in a reasonably short time frame. The major difference between my state of depression and my state of contentment was that I consciously let go of some things I had been holding onto.”

What a great reminder for all of us.  The bottom line here is clear:  Holding on is being brave, but letting go and moving on is often what makes us stronger and happier.

With this in mind, here are five signs it’s time to let go:

1.  Someone expects you to be someone you’re not. – Don’t change who you are for anyone else.  It’s wiser to lose someone over being who you are, than to keep them by being someone you’re not.  Because it’s easier to mend a broken heart, than it is to piece together a shattered identity.  It’s easier to fill an empty space in your life where someone else used to be, than it is to fill the empty space inside yourself where YOU used to be.  (from the “Self-Love” chapter of our book)

2.  A person’s actions don’t match their words. – Everybody deserves somebody who helps them look forward to tomorrow.  If someone has the opposite effect on you, because they are consistently inconsistent and their actions don’t match up with their words, it’s time to let them go.  It’s always better to be alone than to be in bad company.  True friendship is a promise made in the heart – silent, unwritten, unbreakable by distance, and unchangeable by time.  Don’t listen to what people say; watch what they do.  Your true friends will slowly reveal themselves over time.  (from the “Relationships” chapter of our book)

3.  You have a habit of moping and feeling sorry for yourself. – Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them.  Imagine all the wondrous things your mind might embrace if it weren’t wrapped so tightly around your struggles.  Always look at what you have, instead of what you have lost.  Because it’s not what the world takes away from you that counts; it’s what you do with what you have left.  (from the “Happiness” chapter of our book)

4.  You truly dislike your current situation, routine, job, etc. – It’s better to be a failure at something you love than to succeed at doing something you hate.  Don’t let someone who gave up on their dreams talk you out of going after yours.  The best thing you can do in life is follow your heart.  Take risks.  Don’t just make the safe and easy choices because you’re afraid of what might happen.  If you do, nothing will ever happen.  Chances must be taken, mistakes must be made, and lessons must be learned.  It might be an uphill climb, but when you reach that mountaintop it will be worth every ounce of blood, sweat and tears you put into it.  (from the “Passion and Growth” chapter of our book)

5.  You catch yourself obsessing over, and living in, the past. – Eventually you will overcome the heartache, and forget the reasons you cried, and who caused the pain.  Eventually you will realize that the secret to happiness and freedom is not about control or revenge, but in letting things unfold naturally, and learning from your experiences over the course of time.  After all, what matters most is not the first, but the final chapter of your life, which unveils the details of how well you wrote your story.  So let go of the past, set yourself free, and open your mind to the possibility of new relationships and priceless experiences.  (from the “Inspiration” chapter of our book)
