Any GDL90 based ADSB unit will work. Like iLevil.

Do we have any sort of a list of GDL90-compatible units, or of specific
models users have reported to work with Avare? Is there an interface
specification used by Garmin's GDL90, or has their interface become the
defacto standard?

A quick glance at Spruce seems to indicate the most affordable choice is
Dual, known to work well with Avare:

The GDL-90 protocol is published on the FAA website at www.faa.gov/nextgen/implementation/.../GDL90_Public_ICD_RevA.PDF or you can just search for "GDL-90 FAA".

On a related note, I am attempting to get Avare and the External Plug-In to communicate with a FreeFlight FDL-978-XVR. That transceiver uses the GDL-90 protocol and can use Bluetooth or wifi. I've tried the Bluetooth interface. The plug-in shows the Bluetooth has successfully connected and has opened the data stream. ADS-B traffic is selected in Avare app but no traffic is shown. This is also the case when trying to read a binary ADS-B file through the plug-in.

Any ideas? There is no indication that the app is receiving or parsing any data.

Good looking app. Would really like to get this interface to work.

Hi John
If it connects fine, please use the record to file option to record the data and send for our analysis. Yes, there is GDL90 standard, but its complicated, and open to misinterpretations.
