Thank you SO much for sharing what you've figured out! It's sure to
help many other gEarth users.
I've been using gMaps instead, and it's pretty easy to get the decimal
format coordinates Avare uses on Android and Linux via the Firefox
browser (I don't use the Android app except rarely for driving
directions). There's some feedback in Google's Help pages about them
switching to the old "DMS" minutes, seconds, etc. and maybe they're
gradually adding capability to easily switch.
Since it does seem to be changing in gMaps I won't offer directions, but
instead a suggestion for gMaps users: experiment. A few days ago I was
looking up a location to fly past for a look, and found that inputting a
random nearby set of decimal coordinates, gMaps would show that more
often when I tap a spot on the map. Today I tried it for the threshold
for KSBA runway 15R and it came up in decimal. Maybe AI is watching our
every move. ;)
