A cool thing in AvareX is automatic switching to an external GPS source if one is available.
In my own personal cockpit, though, it turns out that the external GPS isn't as reliable as the internal one in my phone. Both sometimes have dropouts, but the external one sometimes has dropouts lasting a minute or more.
I am wondering if it would be possible to improve the GPS source switching at all. A simple idea would be to do a GPS source reliability assessment if no position updates are received for a period of time. If one source shows zero speed while another is non-zero, the zero speed one is likely less reliable.
