Dear Users,

Avare will continue to be supported indefinitely due to popular demand. However, to support both Avare and AvareX, we are introducing some changes.

Avare will now offer an optional subscription for $4.99 per month. Users may continue to use the app for free; however, the free version will now include a startup dialog that delays the app's launch.

To remove this delay, users can either:

1.  Subscribe through the app store.
2.  Manually compile the app from the open-source code to remove the dialog.

I know the programmers have put a lot of time into Avare X and those efforts are appreciated, but those of us who are happy with original Avare thank you guys for listening since we only need a light version to supplement our aircraft equipment as opposed to relying on it for all things. This is great news!

Greatly appreciate Avare staying viable for now.

Several months back a couple of us had discussed Avare crashing while ADSB was active.  I'm using a Stratux with two different Lenovo tablets.  Any update on a fix here?  I'd be willing to subscribe to Avare if this fix was in place.  If you need more specifics on the setup and/or configuration, let me know.

The legacy version is great for light sport GA... thanks for sustaining this version.  Are you still accepting donations from us occasional users?

The crash issue was fixed a while ago.

Much appreciated!

My understanding is that Google has made it vastly more difficult and
time consuming to maintain legacy apps. So your willingness and that of
the Dev Team to invest time and expertise keeping that free legacy app
alive for we few is greatly appreciated!

Though currently grounded, I still use Avare occasionally and hope it's
still viable if/when I'm next aloft again. I've just donated what I used
to pay just for a few paper charts before you gifted the world your
amazing Avare. When I manage to get current again for some air in my
hair, I'll check out the latest AvareX and really take off! :D

Happy Flying
John

How about a one time fee like Plex does and you get lifetime updates/etc.

Most folks don't like recurring subscriptions, and this product will probably have limited updating and probably is better served from a cash flow standpoint with a membership model.

Just thoughts, thanks again -j

What version of the app will remain available for compiling, in case an updated version glitches some folks might want to revert back to an older version temporarily.
