download data base failed

I have a new android 9.0 tablet and cannot down load the data after installing the avare app. I get error ( failed-database code unable to connect to server ). The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

Thanks for any help. I'm not computer literate.

I just checked, both of the servers that supply the charts and they are responding with the correct database file.

A few stupid questions, is the date and time correct on your tablet?  Can you reach the internet (load a random web page) as the internet is needed to download the charts.  Are you set to download the "CURRENT" cycle charts and not the "NEXT" cycle charts?   (Menu -> Preferences -> Storage and Downloads, and then choose "Chart Download Cycle" select "CURRENT")

I have checked all your parameters and they all look OK. At one time it started to load, but stopped at about 8%; tried again and it would load alittle more and then it stopped. I have not put anything else on this tablet except my Google account. The app downloads just fine. 
The last time I tried, I got to the agreement and put my email in and the other box said unregister instead of register.

How much free space do you have on your tablet?  From the Android OS (this may vary slightly between Android versions and manufactures) drag down the menu from the top and press the gear icon, this should bring up the settings menu, look for the device care (battery, storage, memory) and go into that itemtake a look at how much storage you have.

Also when you installed the application you should have give Avare are permission for location and storage, from the same settings menu above, look for "apps" go into that menu and look for Avare and under app settings you should see permissions, Avare requires location and storage to be enabled.

The tablet has 26.26gb left. The location and storage are both on. There has to be some stupid little button I turned on  or off.

Hi Sam.
If Jeff's suggestions do not help, try a different server, make sure you have the latest Avare ver.  and you allow full power / not in power save to your device. TV

Did you by any chance change the storage location for Avare?  Menu -> Preferences -> Storage and Downloads, chose "Charts Storage Folder" I would suggest "Use the default folder" and then try again.  You might want to completely exit avare.  As a just in case make sure everything is cleared out try restarting your tablet after you exit Avare.

That could be the problem. It has charts folder and data folder, when tapped it takes you to external folder and default folder, neither respond, Under that, in red it has (/data/user/0/com.ds.avare). If you tap the icon below it there is a list on options (cache    code_cache    shared_prefs   file   app_ACRA-unapproved    app_ACRA-approved    app_webview    app_extures)

The location sounds almost correct, my default location is /data/user/0/com.ds.avare/files 

Try either resetting the default location or add "files" to the end of the directory string.

I added files and it still does not download. It moves to 1% and stops. How do I reset the default location?

Hi Sam.
The best way would be to uninstall and reinstall. You do ot have many / much files / data. Just go in Settings>Apps>Avare and uninstall and reinstall. If you are having problems with GPlay you can get the latest 1005 ver here http://mamba.dreamhosters.com/share/    and install manually, but best to use GP.
Post here if you need more help, a lot of changes were made in the last few vers and it looks like many users have issues, post here for more help. TV

Hi Sam.
I never tried it but I do Not think that it will. It actually surprised me that it works on and many AOS ver that it does now. It will likely get worse as G will try to restrict the access and sell more of their stuff. They do not make much any money on the existing / old devices they always look for changes that forces users to buy new devices and throw away perfectly good hardware. TV

First Avare will not run on chrome.

Not sure what you did to your installation as to why it is not working, I just pulled my old cell phone (Samsung S8) off the shelf which is running Android Version 9, installed Avare and it successfully downloaded the database and the NY sectional after registering the software.

Can you send a screenshot of the charts storage folder settings?  depending upon your device you will need to press the volume down (possibly up) and it will either be the home button or the power button.

You can also try to uninstall Avare and reinstall the software.

attached is an image showing my settings for the chart location, this was a fresh install and I made sure to allow the permissions and entered my email address to register.
