At a recent RSAT runway safety team meeting at my airport, they reported that their ground vehicles are now equipped with something like ADSB-out.   And on my last flight, I noticed my Lynx NGT-9000 seemed to be showing a fuel truck moving on the taxi way.  Not much detail though with 2-mile range.

I didn't notice anything displayed in AvareX.   Does anyone know if surface traffic should be displayed?

The ability to easily switch to the airport diagram upon landing would be especially useful if surface traffic was also depicted.

Not automatically - I can see that being an issue for go-arounds / touch or stop & Goes.   But maybe a popup that displays for 5 or 10 seconds that offers "land" or "ignore" options.  Choosing "land" could also save the track file, and add an entry to the log?  I'm regularly forgetting to stop and then restart the tracks to trigger a save.

Ground vehicles were disabled for complaints from users about clutter.

Popup is a good idea for landing vs automatic.

Great job on the recent changes to the information tiles. Intuitive to adjust and the customization is welcome.

Regarding surface traffic, while clutter can definitely be a concern, the safety benefit of seeing that traffic may be worth reconsidering displaying them. With the recent addition of the ADS-B tile and status page in version 111, this may lend itself to introducing a manual setting to turn on or off display of surface traffic.

I know there is an aversion to adding too many custom settings but this is unique enough that I don't think a one size fits all approach of displaying surface traffic is necessarily the best. As George alluded to, there is a big push nationwide to ADS-B equip ground vehicles as a direct result of the LaGuardia incident and recommendations coming from that. Perhaps an additional step of only displaying within a certain altitude range when the setting is turned on could further de-clutter the display.

Is it just surface vehicles, or all surface traffic that is disabled.
Earlier this week, I can swear I was curious that someone was on the roll on the runway and I didnt see him on my tablet until he lifted off and got a couple hundred feet up.  It was the only one that caught my attention tho, so I assume he wasnt sending packets until above a certain threshold...

One of the problems with showing ground traffic was if you flew over a large airport you'd just see a large blob of aircraft all sitting on the ground.  Maybe a better way to do this would be show ground traffic when you are on the ground and do not show ground traffic once you are airborne?
