Hi All

Requesting users of AvareX to share their feedback on some UI elements.

1- Buttons on the bottom - There are several buttons at the bottom with icons but no text. Can these be reduced? Can they be better formatted to be more visible and descriptive? The buttons in question are rubber band, nav mode, layers, notes etc.

2- Tiles - Can the floating tiles be made better? Color, contrast, arrangement, position, etc. The tiles in question are DNT, UPT, GS, NXT etc.

Thanks

I think it would be nice if some of the bottom buttons could be grouped together where you could Press a single button and hide about everything then press the same button to make it all reappear.

For the tiles I like being able to rearrange them, but think I preferred the simplicity and consistency of the scrollable banner style where you could have more tiles in a smaller space via scrolling. The current tile layout requires a delicate setup for each new device and if you turn on the tape feature it blocks tiles on top middle of screen.

The "adsb" and "source" tiles could be moved to the IO menu as well so if you don't want the extra screen clutter you could still get to the same information and options.

1. Buttons. Once you get used to them, doesn’t matter. You could move them to a menu. Certainly don't want more clutter.
2. Tiles. I agree with Joe. A user defined tile tape is better.

On a bumpy day if you accidentally touch a movable tile it can be moved by mistake.  Would be nice to have a way to lock location after positioning them.
Thanks,

There is already a lock on top left.

You can lock the position of the tiles, at the very to left corner you'll see a drop down arrow, open that menu and choose "lock tiles"

I agree with the others regarding the buttons that as long as there is some logical organization to them and you can find what you need after a brief learning period that it generally doesn't matter. Since version 120 is available, I updated one of my devices and feel the new layout is intuitive enough and actually makes it easier to access things. I didn't realize it until trying the new version, but grouping them as you have eliminates an issue with hitting the wrong button during one hand operation such as on a phone. The new layout improves the ergonomics considerably.

Regarding the tiles, with the improvements made in earlier versions I only have two suggestions. The most desirable would be to have grid style alignment functionality. I find it difficult to accurately align tiles vertically or horizontally without getting at least one just slightly out of line. Having a grid that the tiles would snap to would be great, but the grid size should be somewhat smaller than the tiles so their positions can still be customizable to everyone's liking.

The second is to allow a second, larger, tile size. This would allow a user to emphasize certain data by making those tiles bigger. This one is less of a suggestion and more so just communicating a thought I had when the tiles were first introduced. It's something that I picked up from the "fish finder" moving map/sonar device on my family's fishing boat. I have set up the on screen parameters size based on importance such as the water depth being large and prominently displayed while the water temperature is smaller and tucked more out of the way.
