Hi,

I have installed avarex via snap on my mxlinux machines and I am getting the following errors from the command line:

sean@mx-macos:~
$ avarex

(AvareX:1865633): Gtk-WARNING **: 18:40:06.544: GTK+ module /snap/avarex/49/gnome-platform/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanberra-gtk-module.so cannot be loaded.
GTK+ 2.x symbols detected. Using GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3 in the same process is not supported.
Gtk-Message: 18:40:06.544: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
Gtk-Message: 18:40:06.545: Not loading module "atk-bridge": The functionality is provided by GTK natively. Please try to not load it.

(AvareX:1865633): Gtk-WARNING **: 18:40:06.584: Theme parsing error: gtk.css:2:38: Failed to import: Error opening file /home/sean/snap/avarex/49/.config/gtk-3.0/xfce4-panel-tweaks.css: No such file or directory

(AvareX:1865633): IBUS-WARNING **: 18:40:06.970: Failed to mkdir /home/sean/snap/avarex/49/.config/ibus/bus: Not a directory

the app appears to be working so its not really an issue.  the other issue is Im not sure how to give it permissions to access the USB based gps device.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,
Sean

I cant help with those errors, but just a reference, I have been using AvareX on a Pi 5 running Ubuntu for a bit. works except i have the same GPS permission problem, and have not found a fix.

I really hope they can fix this GPS permission problem because I really want to make a custom flight tablet for the plane.

The GPS issues for Linux was fixed. It was not fixed but error was removed from causing an exception. There is no solution on Linux for getting to options to set location on.

Maybe an update will fix the linked libraries.  You can see something is trying to use both v 2.0 and 3.0 of the canberra (sound generator) library.  Check for existance of the files the error shows wont load, make sure something didnt go wrong and leave an old version on there.

I'm sorry for being so confused. you say " The GPS issues for Linux was fixed." then immediately say " It was not fixed..." then say "There is no solution on Linux for getting to options to set location on."
Are you saying there is no way to make a USB GPS work on avarex because Linux docent have a location option?

No, the issue of crash is fixed, but it is not a real fix because just th exception causing the crash was catched and thrown away. The issue with no GPS on Linux is not an app issue. You need to make your location dameon on Linux to use your USB GPS.
