Trouble connecting AVAREX traffic

I have been using AVARE on my android phone for years and love it. It is the best app out there. I have several friends that mistakenly were deluded into purchasing apple devices. Now that AVAREX is available I have suggested that they download it. I love the charts and moving map, but can not get the traffic portion to work on two different iphones and one tablet. I have selected SRC and selected external.

I have tried to get it to work with my stratux and and apareo stratus. I have made sure that they have the most current updates, traffic layer is set to 100 %. I can sit next to them with my AVARE and see all kinds of traffic that doesn't show on their phones. One of them uses FltplanGo and it sees all of the traffic, but not AVAREX. We have even run it with only one program running or both. The FltplanGo always sees the traffic, but not AVAREX. I can not find an I/O switch where I can monitor the data stream or the port it is watching. HELP!!
