Im getting used to AvareX after using Avare for a few years. The one difference is that It wont connect to stratux via Wifi. The tablet recognizes and connects to the stratux, but the IO page only offers bluetooth as a connection method. Any Ideas on how to get X to connect to my Samsung tab9 via wifi?

It should automatically connect. I use a Stratux and both my Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite tablet and S25 phone connect without doing anything on AvareX. Just connect wifi before starting AvareX.
Unless I missed something.

Once you connect your tablet to the Stratux wifi, just open up AvareX and you should already be connected. If you want the GPS signal to derive from Stratux instead of your internal GPS, then you should switch SRC to External along the top of the screen.

I believe the Menu->IO is for bluetooth only.

AvareX doesn't have an IO tab like Avare does.  It took me some time before I found the reason I didn't see traffic:  On the bottom right of the screen click the Layer tab (Map Layers)  About the 6th option from the bottom is Traffic.  YOU NEED TO MOVE THE SLIDER TOWARDS THE 100% MARK.  If you don't, you wont see traffic.

Something else, on the top of the screen, the ribbon tabs, swipe it left to the end and there is a tab SRC.  It has three options, try that after the above hint.
AvareX is pretty nice but the documentation is not the best.  They assumed to much when it was made.

AvareX doesn't have an IO tab like Avare does.
On the Ipad (or any device) be sure in the device settings the WiFi source is selected (Stratux).
Bottom right corner of Ipad click the Layer icon.
Scroll down to Traffic and move the slider all the way to the right 100%.
Wont see traffic if you don't slide to at least 50% or more.

Top of screen swipe ribbon to the left and look for the SRC tab.  It has 3 settings. Try them also.

AvareX is a great product but not a lot of thought went into a good help document.  The help file that it does have really doesn't explain a lot on how to do something or where to find it.
