While flying with a another pilot a few days ago, we were following another aircraft.  It did not show up on AvareX.  I had the "small" setting.  The other pilot had ForeFlight, and that aircraft did show up.  We were both connected to the same Stratux.

I have flown the aircraft that was in the pattern with us.  The nav light needs to be on for the ADSB out to work.  I was able to see that the nav lights on the other airplane were off, so no ADSB out.

I can only assume that ForeFlight was seeing that aircraft via TIS-B.

Does AvareX show TIS-B aircraft?

Hi Patrick
Yes traffic from both 978 and 1080 is decided for X and legacy. If you can record the adsb stream next time using the legacy app or filter traffic for X in the adsb menu, it will help to diagnose the issue.

It's also possible that the township filter is somehow filtering out some traffic. I I send a trial fix, can I send it your way for test?

  • A Stratux that hasn't been configured with your ICAO broadcasts ownship ICAO 0. This can cause issues. Have you set your ADSB equipment with your plane's ICAO
  • Have you set ICAO in AvareX of your own aircraft?
  • Have you set tail number in AvareX of your own aircraft?.

If any of those is false then the bug may manifest.

I see.  I fly at a flight school, so I have all their aircraft in my ownership field in Stratux.  That setting solved my "ownship" problem.
I have not configured AvareX.  I've never looked.  Can you program multiple airplanes in AvareX?

Yes you can set up multiple aircraft in X but default aircraft icao is used.
Also X has many cool features with aircraft profiles. You should spend some time playing with it on the ground.
