Avare Legacy Release 11.1.3

Avare Legacy 11.1.3 release now has a subscription model. All users who want to download more than one item in any category will need to pay $4.99 monthly.

Any users who want to avoid this monthly payment has following options

1- Compile the code from open source and disable the limitation in ChartsDownload.

2- Not update to release 11.1.3, and not get updates and fixes.

3- Send an email to support if you are a student or a person who finds it financially unfeasible to pay for this subscription.

Avare Legacy will be maintained indefinitely.

General question I am continuing to work on:  I was playing around just trying to generate the APK, but can only get it to build a debug version.  I tried a bit to change the config files, but didnt really have any success.  I gave up early and will revisit, but any hints would be appreciated.

Debug version is all you need. There is no difference in performance in debug version.

I wish to do option #2 below (not update to 11.1.3), but I don't want to turn off auto update for all my apps.  Is there a way to stop just Avare from updating?  Also, it already updated today.  Is there a way to get back to the previous release?

Yes.

On Android, Go to: 

Sttinngs->Apps->Avare->Apps details in store. 

This will open Google Play for Avare (legacy) only.  

Click the 3 dots on top right corner and uncheck "Enable auto update".

I'm an avid and happy X user, but I keep legacy around as a backup in case something goes south.  If I uninstall legacy completely, can I install a previous version APK from someplace and get it going that way?b

I was able to take the update to 11.1.3 and verify the version.

I then deleted, downloaded 11.0.5 frrom the share site and installed it (probably requires enabling developer options) and verified the version.

I too keep Avare as a backup, and I suppose I could tolerate the delays in the event I ever had to use it, so not sure I will go to all the trouble.

Thanks! I did this, and disabled the auto-update option for the app in the Play Store.  I also had to delete and reload all the data, but now I have the legacy app all set up now in the unlikely event I ever need a backup.

The main idea of putting a subscription on the legacy app is so that people who don't want to pay can move to AvareX, and people who cannot move to X can pay for support on legacy.

If not enough people sign up for legacy app, then it clearly shows a discrepancy between the desire on the forum and the reality. 

To answer your question in this regard, no there is no such previous apk and free users will be discouraged on the legacy app now and in future, even if such an apk exists.

This thead calls out two different "LAST" non pay Avare Legacy versions.

"11.0.5" in one place and 11.0.7" in another.

Is it .05 or .07 and is there a link/pointer/how to?

My old T290 and Nexus 2 are never going to see X as they are 2GB RAM devices.

That's a bit light to run X, correct?

My issue is that the AvareX can not run on my LG 10.5 pad. I suspect because my LG 10.5 pad can not update the Android os, it stays at Android 9, while the legacy Avare runs fine. Unfortunately the legacy Avare was updated to 11.1.0(pay to use charts) before I switched the automatic updates off. So, AvareX can not run on my LG10.5 pad, neither legacy Avare can run in full. I am doomed, I guess.

Is its just a coincidence that the apps4av.org site doesnt appear to be available anymore?

I use X on a tablet that doesnt have Google Play services so have been using the share to pull the apk to sideload.

I reconsider. You can download the latest 11.1.3 from store. Then subscribe, and cancel subscription and let me know your registered account. I will refund the payment and give you access for free till you get a new tablet.

Hi all.

I made some progress taming the legacy Avare v11.1.3.

I downloaded the code(zip) from github, and bypassed the  "pay for more than 2 charts" flag (all users are entitled) and it works.

Now: the email registration(for filing ifr/vfr plans) is  greyed out (see the attchd) and as a result, I get "Network error" when click "file plan".

Dear DEVS: how can I enable the email registration?
