Hi folks,

I have noticed on my flights over the past few months that I am no longer seeing ADS-B FIS-B weather in Avare any longer. As I type this, I don't recall what I've seen at the bottom of a long press. I do know that I'm not seeing metar codes on the map for sure. I'm using 7.9.0 of Avare and 4.0.4 of I/O. I do have ADS-B weather selected in the preferences. I am getting traffic information just fine. Both sources of information come from my Lynx NGT9000.

Anyone else seeing an issue getting weather/metar displays via ADS-B?

Yes it was. I forgot to include that detail. I don't recall seeing radar either, but there hasn't been much to paint on the west coast.

Looks like it is a refresh issue. I am getting ADS-B info as verified by the long press. I have seen the metar markers on the map now, but not all of them. Furthermore, if I move or resize the map, they disappear for a long time...like minutes. The data is coming through though.

A Samsung S2 I think it is. ...and why I didn't think to test my backup devices I don't know. I will try to remember that on the next flight. Thanks.

I am using a Stratux with dual band receivers.  I have noticed issues with UAT updates.  Example:  The other day I am at 12,000 over mid Kansas working my way through CBs.  I checked the long press and saw that the ADS-B wx was almost a half hour old.  When I looked at the Stratux web page, it showed that there were no UAT towers (highly unlikely considering where I was).  Traffic over the 1090 was fine.  I did some unplugging, resetting, etc... and then it started to update again and showed a UAT tower.  I am not sure if it was the fiddling around or it just started to pick up towers again.  This has happened to me on a semi-regular basis.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with Stratux or any other ADS-B receivers?  I would like to know if it is me or are the UAT towers that unreliable?

This will be hard to verify/debug without some data... I suggest anybody
who is having trouble record what is coming over the external i/o app to
a file.  If possible, also record what stratux is sending out (I'm not
sure if this is possible).  We can then make an effort to compare.  As
far as I know, avare is presenting the data that it gets.

Hi
It's probably a bug where io module dies and does not restart. Will address that will integrating io code in Avare.

If the Stratux page was showing no towers as you mentioned, this specific instance appears to be solely a problem with your Stratux and not Avare.

> If the Stratux page was showing no towers as you mentioned

Since I use the StratuX as GPS source with internal turned off, I get
the red "No GPS" alert on screen pretty quickly. I too lose StratuX
more often than desired, and look forward to a fix in the I/O code when
it's integrated into Avare.

> instance appears to be solely a problem with your Stratux

Yes, if nothing's showing on the StratuX web interface that does seem a
non-Avare issue. I believe TV has traced it to a WiFi connection issue,
which would be consistent with this specific instance. While outside of
Avare's control, maybe a WiFi indicator could be added as an option in
the top-left corner of the Map screen's Dynamic Fields. The tiny WiFi
symbol in Android's Notification bar is difficult to see in any sort of
turbulence.

Agreed, I am sure that it is not an Avare or I/O problem.  I/O shows data coming in and Avare shows traffic.  The problem is specific to the UAT tower data not getting into my Statux.  I was just wondering if this is unique to my end or if anyone else has seen the issue with their equipment.

The only thing for the Avare team to consider, would be a message that pops up if the wx data is older than a nominal 15min, which would alert the user to the issue.  Not a huge issue, I am getting used to the long press to see if data is coming across.

Did you ever resolve this problem. I tried Avare IO listening ports 40000 but I have not yet tried 43211 or 49002. Have you?

Saw the following today (see attached images), notice Concord, I had zoomed in on the airport to pick up the METAR, notice in one image it is missing, the other image I zoom out and I see the tag of MVRF, this was not the only airport with the issue, I also I found the same was true for traffic, if I zoomed in the traffic may or may not appear.

Notice Manchester (Class C) and Nashua were also missing.  I also have noticed that I have less of an issue in and around the NYC airspace but I was certainly high enough to get a good signal.

I have not been able to get my NGT-9000 to connect to Avare IO. On the IO page I get 10 lines of  data then it blanks and gives the same 10 lines. It goes by so fast I can't read it. Maybe I should take a video. Anyway, is your Lynx working with Avare/Avare IO?

I am using the NGT-9000 and I am able to successfully connect it to Avare and receive data, traffic, GPS position, METARs, and TAFs.

I am using the current version of Avare which is version 8.0.3 and I am not using the Avare I/O application as the functionality is now in the program itself.

I am having other issues with the NGT-9000 unrelated to Avare, but that is a whole different discussion.

If it doesn't work with the latest Avare (without using the old I/O
add-on app that's now only needed in special cases), you might check all
your Preferences. If you're seeing data go by in the Avare I/O screen,
it's probably getting the data but something in your Preferences is
preventing you from seeing it displayed.
