The classic Avare used to have a "Simulate" function to view a planned route without being impeded by your current gps location. In AvareX that function is not there anymore. It always insists on drawing a line from my current position to the first point of the flight plan. If I am sitting in Ohio planning a short flight between two points in California, that becomes a real pain having to pan a few thousand miles just to view my first waypoint. Am I missing something obvious here?

Is anyone using Avare for flight planning from other than their current location? I’m trying to plan a flight from SBA to MRY (both in California) while I’m in Ohio, but the screen looks like this. Is there a way to show only the planned flight segment without having to constantly pan and zoom?

How is constant pain and zoom required ? Unless you press the center button it stays there. Minor Inconvenience ?

That’s a valid point. Yes, it does stay once you pan. I guess I was mainly trying to get rid of the long brown line from the current position to the first waypoint. In hindsight, yes it's only a minor inconvenience.
