Hi All

I am overwhelmed by the support of this community. I will reply to each email individually. Thank you, and I feel lucky to know all of you.

I rely on the legacy Avare product every. single. weekend. and hope you will continue to improve on it a little bit or open it up for others to do so.

Thank you for making a great (freeware) program that helps keep me safe.

You are one of the most remarkable people I've had the good fortune to meet.

I just wish more Avare users had the privilege of getting to know you.

In this busy life I'm confident that many (most?) Avare & X app users
don't regularly follow this list. Even fewer Avare/X users fully
understand the countless hours of your valuable professional expertise
that go into maintaining the apps - especially amid FAA changes. The
fact you're also tirelessly dreaming up and adding new features borders
on unbelievable.

Then there's Jeff, Pete, and all the other volunteer experts who've
donated their work over the years, and with whom you've generously
shared some of your too few donations. As a retired SEL VFR pilot I hope
someone will take on replacing my hasty and horribly obsolete
documentation & videos, but I digress...

The fact you've donated such world class apps on top of a truly
remarkable career while building a wonderful family and network of
similarly notable friends is inspirational.

For everyone's benefit I hope you'll consider replying here, or that
your respondents will do so.

Thank you, Zubair. I feel very fortunate to have met you.

Sincerely,
John

I disagree there. The motto of the Apps4Av Dev Team since the beginning is"
"Do what you want, when you want."

I believe that's added a lot to the innumerable hours of exceptional
expertise and even financial resources donated by the Dev Team. Soon
after the launch of AvareX, I recall Zubair writing that he no longer
-wants- to donate time on Avare. Even so, I'm confident his hours
donated maintaining it amid FAA chaos are considerable.

In case you're not aware, both Avare and AvareX are Free Open Source
Software (FOSS). You, and everyone else with the expertise are earnestly
welcome and encouraged to join the Dev Team (and languishing
documentation team) to donate your work. A few have selflessly done so
over the years. Some others have "forked" the code to build their own
apps or even stolen the code as-is and simply re-released it as a fee
app. My impression is that anyone who's tried to go it alone has soon
learned how crucial the Dev Team's expertise is (esp. Zubair's imo). So
in short, there never has been any need to "open up" the apps for
continued improvement. What many of us (incl. me) have sometimes idly
wished, is that other people (Dev Team) would "Do what I want, when I
want." Amazingly for me, they often have!

Thank YOU, Jay - for expressing the appreciation so well earned by the
Dev Team and Zubair in particular.

Thanks John
You answered what I was going to.

AvareX has all the features of legacy Avare, done better, more maintainable, so there is no reason to continue updating legacy Avare. Users need to invest some time in learning the new interface.

Some legacy Avare features will not be ported. For example, 3D was fun doing but I do not think anyone uses it.

However, there is no plan to take Avare off from the store. But it is not being developed.
