VFR Sectionals Downloads Showing Chart Supplements

In Avare, on two different devices, the VFR Sectional Charts download section only shows the same items as the Chart Supplement Images section -- no VFR sectionals.

Not sure what you are referring to.  If you mean the names of the downloads within the sections?  Yes the names would appear to be the same.  Keep in mind that between the last cycle and this cycle the download names have changed, instead of downloading individual sectionals or states the downloads have been combined into areas that match the chart supplement areas.

Is this change to 9areas instead of 54 sectionals going to be permanent, or is this a one-time thing? I too got the error message, updated the app through the prompt on Google Play, and commenced to download (four of) the nine areas. Everything seems OK, but I'm wondering if we're going back to the 54 sectionals or whether this is the new "status quo"?

Yes this is going to be permanent, this was done to simplify the generation of the charts plus it has the added effect of reducing the number of charts you need to select for an area.  In my case I was downloading 8 to 10 sectional charts each cycle, now I only downloading 3 areas (North East, South East, & East Central).  I was also downloading approach plates for almost 20 states, this too has been reduced to 3 areas.

The disadvantage is to the pilot that only needed one or two sectionals they are stuck downloading a larger amount of unnecessary data, however the reduction in complexity it was felt far outweighs the added amount of downloaded data.

I downloaded 2 of the 9 VFR sectionals. But now the class B and C rings only show the outer 10 nm and no inner rings or floor altitude ?

I downloaded the Pacific chart but it doesn' have San Francisco or other areas out west - what's the trick...???
