> long press then in the popped up menu select red cross (delete)
That red X only works for me when deleting the second long-press point
rather than selecting it with the D as a new Destination. Long-press
the second time just selects a new point you can choose as Destination,
so if you press D it's the new one and if you press X it's deleted
leaving you still with the first one you chose as Destination. I've not
been able to get the exact same point a second time with long-press,
since the screen touch accuracy is nowhere near that precise.
To find the exact coordinates you generated with a long-press, tap the
Find tab afterward and it will be the top item. If you long-press that
line you'll get three options, one of which is to delete it. Doing so
removes it from the list, but when you go back to Map view it's still
there with a course line to it.
To get rid of a Destination from Map view I usually just select another
one, since I'm either going somewhere next or not looking at the Map.
So I'd never noticed this inability to delete a Destination and route
line before.
Experimenting with it just now I found a possible solution for you. I
have Map/Menu/Preferences/ApplicationState/UseDynamicFields turned on
(green check mark). I have my top-left field set to "Next" and when I
long-press to select a Destination that field says "GPS"
When I long-press that "Next" field at the top-left of my Map view the
selection and route line both disappear, even though the GPS coordinates
of the Destination are still at the top of the Find list. So I can
remove the current Destination without deleting it from the Find list,
and to re-select that exact location again I can just activate it in
Find view. It works the same way with airport codes.
So thanks for pointing out this option I didn't know about. :)
