Hey all.
First of all thanks a lot for providing free aviation software.

As there are no maps available for EUROPE, I would like to try to create own maps.
Possibility is to work with Global Mapper or with GDAL (although that will take a lot of reading)
The map format I have is geotiff or CADRG, depending which I'll use.

Further more I am interested in using DAFIF data, or DAFIF converted to EXCEL...

Could anybody involved provide some information regarding the format of databases used for avare?
Unfortunately I couldn't find any of this information in the forum.

Hope one of you might help me out.

I can also comment my process, how it worked out.
Unfortunately I cannot provide the converted data to public since it is a governmental source I am allowed to use as employee of government.

Best regards,
Max

Hi Max
You may check database format under Avare github repo under extra folder.

Charts are done via gdal and process for that is also under extra folder.

Thanks alot. I have read through the skripts and I think I'll be able to create own Charts with your gdal skripts.

Regarding charts:
Although the Charts are aviable in pdf Format, it is not as standardized as the FAA products you use(since not for use in a digital Viewer).
For Germany you can check it out here:  https://www.milais.org/publications.php#ad
Unfortunately adapting the skripts for use with my / oure source is far beyond my knowledge. Maybe someone could give my an assessment, after taking a look on the sources above, how Long it would take for a Person skilled in python? skripting to adapt those for Import.

Regarding database:
As stated above, adapting is beyond my knowledge, but according to this thread https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/apps4av-forum/openair%7Csort:date/apps4av-forum/7rLf0OanXbU/oWIiSWc3CAAJ there has been an Approach based on openair data. Are there any further steps into that direction to implement also european air databases, maybe based on free sources?

Hi all!

First time here. Love the Avare app with all its nice functions.

Just wondering how can we Europeans import data and custom charts (maps) for Europe. Any chance to convert AIRAC or DAFIF (or other) data to be supported by the app? Hrat would be the procedure to do so? Are there any procedures hoe to prepare custom charts (with gdal or other GIS software) to be ready for use in the app?

Thanks for reply and best regards
