Has anyone done an email merge with Word and Gmail?

We recently moved from MSOutlook to Gmail and this is the first time I have had to do a mass email under GMail.
In the past, I typed the email in Word and use Excel which contains our contacts.  Then send the email message out via Word which currently defaults to Outlook.
We don't know how to change this default because MSWord looks for an email client (which is Outlook).
GMail is a web-based client and Microsoft can't find web-based clients.
So, I was wondering if there was a way to do this through GMail.  I have to email over 70 people so doing this individually is not an option.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Michelle,

Would you consider creating a google group ?

Then you can add everyone's email and email to the group each time.

By the way, you can also use a group for other purposes, besides being a group email, such as as a collaborative inbox

As an alternative, you might consider exporting your contacts into Excel, and running the mailmerge from the Excel file.  Google Contacts will create a file in .csv format, but it's easy to update it to .xls.

Hi Michelle,

You can do a mail merge with Word and Gmail. If you’re used to merging emails using Word and Excel, then you won’t be lost. You can compose your email in Word and once it’s ready, copy/paste it into the Mailmeteor editor to send your mail merge from Word to Gmail!

Here is a complete guide: https://mailmeteor.com/mail-merge-gmail
