My friend just took these photos of me on her camera phone. I've never seen a glitch effect like this, but I think its awesome.
Anyone have any ideas about what happened here?!?!?!?!?

Yeah, these were downloaded off the phone. On the phone, the thumbnails for the images look normal, but when you open the image, it looks wacky like this.

Nifty. I think it has something to do with the HDR mode glitching out.

wow, i've never seen a glitch like that before. it could definitely be an hdr / multiple exposure alignment issue. but if you look up "hdr iphone glitch" there are no similar looking results...

if you can get it to happen again, maybe try with something that's changing very fast? like something spinning or flashing, and see if it varies within the image. that would prove there are multiple exposures it's trying to integrate...

Hey Jack, fascinating stuff. Is there any chance you can get a screen grab of the thumbnails from the phone - or very preferably the thumbnail data itself? Looking at the exif data, I'm not seeing the unfucked image.

because one of the shadows is grayscale and the other color, it looks to me like a misinterpreted YUV encoding.
