We are building a resource/ asset booking system. It's first implementation will be to manage accommodation bookings for the soccer world cup in South Africa next year.

We want to be able to backup our google datastore and restore it to a local machine dev instance or maybe even a different appspot app.

I use approcket nearly every day that I develop!

I'm launching an eLearning RIA app using Flex, Flash, and GAE called
Insta Spanish, and thanks to approcket, I enter all of my lessons and
users into a spreadsheet - which has all sorts of nice macros which
help minimize errors due to typos - then import into Navicat (mysql
gui) - and presto, I can upload all that to GAE datastore both locally
and online in a snap. I can't imagine doing it any other way, as this
allows me fantastic control over my data, and being able to use a
spreadsheet there I can cut and paste as well as use macros for dates
and sheet name for the lesson names has made a huge difference in
development time.

We are not live yet, still chasing down a couple of new Flex bugs -
but you'll soon be able to sign up for a free trial on our site at
http://www.instaspanish.com

If anybody is working in Flex and GAE and has any questions for me
about our own development process, send me a note and I'll be happy to
share.

Feliz Navidad!

I know this is late, but better than never..

I'm using App Rocket to create a real-time replication from mysql to app engine. My app, NetworkedBlogs, was built in php/mysql and when we hit scaling issues with mysql, and after spending considerable time on scaling, I decided to move parts of the app to AE. It was a considerable effort, but it's worth it in the long run. My infrastructure is now split between two systems: mysql and AE. Some data is required to be in both places, though, and that's where App Rocket comes in. I used to replicate changes in real-time from mysql to AE so that both systems have the data they need to work.

I had to update AppRocket in a few places to fit my needs though. Some of those updates and bug fixes or general updates that I shared on this mailing list, but others are more custom for my needs that I haven't shared yet, but I would if there is interest.

Thanks for creating this awesome too.

I'm definitely keen to read about your custom usage.
