Speeding App Rocket up?

I'm trying to replicate one table that has about 300K records from mysql to the appengine. However, the way it's going, it looks like it's going to take about 25 hours to finish. Any thoughts one an easy way to make this faster? I'm considering updating the code to be multi-threaded, but that's a fairly involved change that I might look into in the future. In the meantime, I'm looking for suggestions that might require less work. Any ideas?
