Hey everyone,
does anyone has an account on fotki.ru or flickr or anything of that sort? I think it would be best to post photos on a website that requires an authorization to view them rather than Facebook, to avoid situations like that photo of Marianna (as fun as it was to see that on Facebook, I strongly believe that it's not the place for that kind of stuff, Facebook's privacy is a joke).

Obviously, we could post all the decent photos on Facebook and put all the entertaining ones on a private account, but I don't see a point of sorting through them and figuring out which ones belong where, so I think it's just easier to post them all on a photo portal.

Anyway, who has an account on a photo sharing portal that has a password authorization?

It's actually pretty straighforward to secure them on facebook , just select which people you want to view them.
Just saying.

Sounds great, I think we should go with Shutterfly.

About the Facebook, it's not the privacy settings that are the problem. Those work fine, but they only apply to the people who are usual users. My concern is about the people who can get to personal info through different venues; applications, games, compromised accounts from friends, etc. There is a reason why there are disclaimers about Facebook not taking responsibility for your personal info if you install a third-party app on your profile.

Besides, in order to set the person-based privacy settings on Facebook, people might have to go through a few hundreds of profiles (if not more) in their friend list, and that is just too much of a hassle.

Anyway, let's just wait for Lerchik to make an account on Shutterfly, it will be easier and more secure for everyone. :)

I would rather pass on facebook. You cannot download full resolution photos.

I think we should still post the non-controversial photos here www.apopacamp.com
and here

It will be great to look at many years later.

Not sure if some of the ladies who were walking around topless would want their pictures posted on Facebook... :)

Again, you can block out the Facebook users, but if you have any third-party apps installed, then Facebook privacy settings might not work for them (that's why they have a disclaimer when you install them that says that Facebook is not responsible for the personal info that may be accessible through the app).

Plus, I think Facebook converts photos that lowers their resolution, so they might not be that good if you download them from Facebook.

Guys,

Wouldn't it be better if we created a gallery on our website (nameed it "Members Only" or something along those lines) which would be accessible/protected with username and/or password? Unfortunately I don't know how to do it but Lesha says that he does. I know it's more work but we could actually have two galleries - 1 with nude/topless photos and 1 with photos for the rest of the world to see  ;)

If Marina needs help with sorting out photos, I down :)

Thoughts?

Tema: to set the record straight on Facebook ( in case it's not apparent yet, I work there).

a) you are right , Facebook downsamples the photos, and you can't download high-resolution versions (yet). so  not the best storage for printing photos.

b) you are wrong that you cannot block third-party apps, in fact it's quite easy:
on the privacy settings page (yes we have one :)
http://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=privacy
go to Edit your settings for using applications, games and websites., where you can view which apps you are using, add/remove them, Turn off all platform applications easily, and even
Control what information is available to applications and websites when your friends use them.

So yes facebook privacy is a joke, but only when the facebook user posts content visible to "Everyone" and does not RTFM :)

So i will keep my photos on Facebook, but exclude the (half)naked ones just in case (there aren't that many = < 5%)

Kol', agree with you about the a) and the part about posting the NSFW pics somewhere else. I know about the privacy settings, but still there seem to be glitches that people can exploit. Check out this article, for example, this came up just recently.

http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9183583/Facebook_glitch_let_spammer_post_to_walls

But again, if the pictures that we post on Facebook do not have anything private on them, there should be no problem.

I think we definitely want to add the best photos gallery on our site, also links to private ones, but I cannot do it at least till 15th of September - too many new and overdue deadlines. So if anyone wants to take care of this now - you're welcome
