It gives ADI great pleasure to formally announce its second annual DevFest 2012. You can register here. DevFest is a celebrated week-long application development festival filled with ideas, coding, events, and resources to help student teams build web-based products with monetary and/or adoption potential. Rather than focusing on building “hacks”, DevFest's mission is to help teams create useful applications for fellow Columbians or New Yorkers alike.
DevFest is a new type of Tech Event, it goes beyond the traditional hackathon by facilitating collaboration between student groups, Venture Capital firms, Startups, and Columbia Departments to ensure student developers find their means of success. This framework provides the necessary support for students to build a complete application over the span of one week as they iterate upon their ideas, experiment with new technologies, and add value in non-technical ways. Check out this Techcrunch article that was written up about the event last year.
DevFest kicks off Saturday, January 28 at 1pm in Davis Auditorium. Lunch will be provided before we head into a traditional 24-hour hackathon to jumpstart team development. The rest of the week will be filled with workshops and lectures on topics related to development and entrepreneurship. DevFest will culminate in a demonstration event Saturday, February 4 at 12pm in Davis Auditorium where teams will have a chance to show off their product to a panel and general audience of representatives from NYC's top Venture Capital firms, hot tech startups, larger companies, and fellow peers.
Currently, we're putting together a collection of workshops, tutorials, and experienced individuals to help those new to application development overcome any initial technological hurdles. Please email us if you’d like to see a Workshop or Tech Talk about a particular technology or methodology.
We hope you are as excited about this event as we are. Get ready for an intense week of building, learning, and sharing. You can register here.
