Walkabout NYC is a celebration of the technology and entrepreneurial culture in New York City. On Friday, June 10th, startups behind your favorite products and services will host a city-wide open house. Check out the workspaces, see how they work, and meet the people leading the technology charge in New York City. We heard about it first from LinkedList NYC. Mendeley is hosting a Hackathon on June 11-12, as part of Internet Week NY. The purpose of Hack4Knowledge (http://mnd.ly/hck4knw) is to encourage to thinking beyond the consumer internet. Hack on whatever you want as long as it's related to education and academia. But if you use the Mendeley API, submissions will be judged by Juan Enriquez (MD, Excel Venture Management), Tim O'Reilly (Founder, O'Reilly Media), James Powell (CTO, Thomson Reuters), John Wilbanks (VP Science, Creative Commons) and Werner Vogels (CTO, Amazon) for a chance to win $10,001.
Mendeley (http://www.mendeley.com/) is a reference manager and social network for academics, scientists and researchers. We have been named tech start-up "most likely to change the world for the better" by the Guardian Activate 2010 as well as best "Best Education Start-Up" at the Telegraph 100 Awards 2011.
