The same header is also added when i'm hosting the site using IIS. I am aware that i can remove this header (and i will), but i would like to understand the version number. It seems version 4.0.30319 was the initial .net 4.0 version number. What is the point to have this in the http header when using .net 4.8?
The value of the Version entry in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full key has changed to 4.6.xxxxx for the .NET Framework 4.6 and its point releases, and to 4.7.xxxxx for .NET Framework 4.7. In .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1, and 4.5.2, it had the format 4.5.xxxxx.
The file and product versioning for .NET Framework files has changed from the earlier versioning scheme of 4.0.30319.x to 4.6.X.0 for the .NET Framework 4.6 and its point releases, and to 4.7.X.0 for the .NET Framework 4.7 and its point releases. You can see these new values when you view the file's Properties after right-clicking on a file.
The AssemblyFileVersionAttribute and AssemblyInformationalVersionAttribute attributes for managed assemblies have Version values in the form 4.6.X.0 for the .NET Framework 4.6 and its point releases, and 4.7.X.0 for the .NET Framework 4.7.
change made to both files was the same just added 1 line entry and after that I have been getting this error on multiple programs, including skype, skype starts succesfully itelf but as it seems one of its services fails to start. I searched but didnt find any installer so I can repair this specific version of .net framework. any help would be appreciated thanks. Another thing to note is that I undid those changes and now both config files are back in their default condition but I am still getting this error.

.NET versions in the QlikView Management console are showing a different version number than the simple naming convention of 4.5, 4.2, etc, even though .Net Framework 4.5.2 or higher has been installed/upgraded on QlikView machine.
You can see .Net version on under QlikView Management Console >> System >> About but it indicates 4.0.30319.42000
I have the same problem with Download assistant. I have .network 3.5 and 4.8 installed on a Windows 10 machine. Cannot install .net v4.0 as I have a later version installed. Why should I have to revert my .net framework version and possibly cause problems with other applications?
This problem has obviously been around for more than 2 years - what rubbish!
This will scan for damaged Windows files and replace them where possible. Let it run till the end and it will tell you if it found corrupted files and whether it was able to repair them or not.
I suggest running the sfc command twice as it sometimes finds more damage after the first pass.
Does anyone have experience with .Net proxygen? There is a wierd little executable that is run during proxygen called "PathFinder.exe" (at C:\Progress\OpenEdge\bin\). It seems to only be used if the compiler option is set up for "default csc" (instead of "custom").
To make a long story short, the "PathFinder.exe" is a bit confused on my machine and it is finding the wrong csc, and not finding xsd.exe at all. Would love to hear if anyone else is using the "default csc" option, and understands the expected behavior of "PathFinder.exe" as it tries to find the paths for compiler tools.
Based on the only KB article I could find, , I'm wondering if it does little more than search the PATH environment variable. It seems to be a pretty unreliable way of locating compiler-related tools. It reminds me of the old "I'm feeling lucky" button in google.
Look at the InstallRoot value in SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\.NETFramework to see where .NET is installed on the machine. Call this frameworkdir. It will be something like c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64
Enumerate the keys under SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\.NETFramework\\Policy. If a key starts with the letter 'v' get the first subkey. For example, if it finds SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\.NETFramework\\Policy\v4.0 it looks there to find the first subkey. On my machine it's SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\.NETFramework\\Policy\v4.0\30319.
The code for /xsd is more complex than /csc but I don't see anything which searches the path. It looks at a bunch of keys in the registry to find the path. I don't see why adding the Windows SDK to your path would have any effect on how /xsd works.
I guess I will assume that pathfinder relies on the PATH for the xsd and uses the other magic you had described for the csc. My machine has all the tooling for both PDSOE and VS2017. I was surprised that proxygen made me change my PATH (given that I haven't had to manually change my PATH for any of the other development tools that I use).
At this rate I think I just as soon use the "custom" option and tell proxygen exactly which csc and which xsd to use. Setting the path in via my environment variables seems like a round-about way of accomplishing the goal.
