Hi folks at appleseed!
Aboue me:
I'm Vasu, currently a indie game developer who loves the essence of graphics in games. I finished my undergrad in Computer Science in VIT University, India (in 2015) and currently I am going to start my graduate studies at University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and pursuing Computer Graphics and Game Technology. For a couple of years, I worked primarily at a Software Dev company called Storedock and continued to keep indie game dev as my side project. Recently, I shifted to full time game development and am working on 2 challenging games.
Open Source:
During my time at Storedock, I contributed to some libraries like: Electron, EnumJS, Node Printer, LokiJS etc. and I have a couple of my own projects. It was at this time I started diving into game development. Currently I am working on two adventurous games. One is based on Unity, the other on my own
Direct3D engine. Unity has proven to be a great source of inspiration and guidance.
I am also interested in procedural generation, I feel it plays a big role in not just rendering but also in games and the way they provide features like replayability. I implemented an open source lib that generates Pokemon style maps using Diamond Square. And recently, I upgraded that to a
perlin noise based landscape in C++ D3D.
About Appleseed:
I didn't know about appleseed before GSoC.
Interested Projects:
I like Project 6 mostly, as it had both procedural components as well as rendering ones. Personally, I would love any project that is related to rendering.
Overall, I am eager for work. I feel the applestudio projects will provide me a jumpstart into this field.
