The "bwest solution" for you would be to acll Freedom Scientific's Technical
Support and press the option for hardware to await for the live person to
come on. You could also send an email to them but it waill take them a few
days to reply.

My Focus is acting strangely at times. When I plug in the us for charging,
there is no input available unless I restart Voiceover on the Mac. Does
anyone know if there's been a firmware update in the last few months?
I'm also a little puzzled by the firmware updates. There doesn't seem to be
an efficient way to get the updates, other than writing Freedom Scientific
Tech Support and getting a dropbox link to the file. Is there some sort of
mailing list to join for notifications of firmware updates?
