i apologise for being a bit off topic, how can one use the camera on the iphone 14 to read something like a sheet of print, e.g. a paper bill?

Use an app like Seeing AI or BeMyEyes and position the phone above the sheet of paper. You may also be able to use the Scan feature in Notes and its native oCR. Seeing AI and BeMyEyes are free.
