Hello Rich

Jeff is here!

Note that I’ve changed the subject heading as we have been talking about Face Time.  Thank you, Rich, for the clarification about Angela at Apple.

I have one question for any of you who uses Face Time.  Have you had a group of people like one family chatting  with the other group of people like another family using Face Time.  I know this works for Zoom and Google meet but I want to know about Face Time.

Thank you and have splendid Sunday!

Yours Truly,

Jeff

The great Jeff is here!

Thank you so much for both of your responses.  Rich, Angela was only doing her sales for Apple and would talk like what she did to you so unfortunately, I can’t go by that.

Many hard of hearing folks say that hear much better on android phones than I-Phones.  MY son and his wife have been a very long time Android phone users along with their daughter who got one recently.  However, I just remembered that they have an iPad which their son is currently using it and shares with the family until he is old enough to get his own phone.  MY daughter’s husband is an Android user and so is their son who got an used one after losing his first brand new Android.  Like my younger grandson, my daughter’s daughter is using an iPad primarily.   Recently we had a family conference using the iPad and I think they used Google Meet APP.  I will try Face ?Time; however, I am not sure if they have an open captioning for my wife to read if she can’t follow the conversation.  That was why I asked about Google Meet as I am trying to figure how one APP can be made accessible to all of us

First of all, soon that FaceWill be available to all android phones that I saw on the news about few weeks ago.

Baraeayou might want to try look into the app called What's App.  What's App is very accessible to the braille displays and screen readers by now that some told me about it.

Thankyou for your suggestion.  However my son and his family have Anroid phones so this will not work at also, Gogle Meet is a good choice especially when ten of us meet together                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

jeff,

rich here.

use facetime only. when you get to facetime, you dial your daughter's number, wait until she answers, then hit home button and go down to message and open your daughter's. she can look at your face and yo talk with her, she types text back to you. you continue talking and she types texts back to you. then you are done, use home button to get out and go back to facetime and close down.

try it.

sincerely,

rich

Greetings!

With all the talk about “Picture” messenger usage and their accessibility, I am one of those who does not have Facebook and would rather do either Zoom or Google Meet.  I’ve tried Zoom with my daughter which was before Rich gave us instructions on how to read text messages, and I did not find it easy to look for that.

So since I know that Google Meet has open captioning if that option is switched on, I am wondering if one can read text messages here?

Many thanks and have a great day!

Jeff

I think it is possible but I’ve only ever used one email at a time. I guess the only way it could be possible really was if you had each family round the computer at each end as the mike on the Mac and mum’s iPad reaches quite far. Mum and I have done that several times and so has my sister and her partner at the other end so we had a group going but only with one email on each end if you know what I think. I’m sure someone else more intelligent will be able to correct me if I’m wrong about this love emma

Hi Emma:

Jeff is here typ8ng to make a clarification to your statement in your last message.  I was not talking about dialing multiple people to join us but rather just one number or email and everyone just sit around and look at the iDevices.  It is kinda like Google Meet where we dial just one email with all of us in front of the iDevices.

I sincerely hope that this helps.

Thanks and enjoy the rest of the weekend>

Best,

Jeff

Yes we have done that. With more than one person sitting in front of each devise that is connected. That is fine. It is like having a real conversation and being in their room where ever they have the devise. I tend to use the call function myself though as most people I am calling on it are blind and it saves our data as we have an allowance of a hundred gig a month. I think you can change the settings on zoom to make it less heavy on data too but I haven’t worked out how to do that. Love emma
