Hi Theater lovers!
I got a call and email from the regional director of the puppeteers organization. They are giving out scholarships to local kids and adults and teachers to attend their amazing puppeteering conference at WOU August 14-17 for FREE.
There will be multiple workshops in puppet building and puppeteering (including building PARADE-SIZED puppets), and lots of performances. Check out the website below for more info.
Adults and High School Students are encouraged to apply, but kids as young as 9 can apply if a parent also applies. There seems to be plenty of scholarships to go around.
If you are interested EMAIL Doris Hicks at
dlhli...@aol.com first, and then fill in the registration on the website.
I've excerpted her email below.

The Puppeteers of America Pacific Northwest regional conference to be held August 14-17 at Western Oregon University is offering full scholarships (attend all conference workshops and events at no charge) for local teachers and for high school students who would like to learn about puppetry as an art form (both visual and dramatic arts) and as a tool used in education and counseling. There will be workshops specifically for teachers or other adults who would like to use puppets as a teaching tool, as well as workshops where you will make various kinds of puppets to keep, and workshops on how to manipulate and to perform with puppets. There will also be afternoon and evening performances by professional puppeteers, with all the shows open to the public at no charge.
If you are interested in applying for a scholarship to attend the festival workshops and events free of charge, or if you would like more information, please contact us. Thank you.
