Hi guys,

Not sure whether I should post this here or not. Anyways going through the various frameworks found this link which has declared "Monkey Talk" as the best framework for mobile automation. I do not know the standard of this award. But this did not go down my throat.

What do we all have to say about this?

Regards.

We are working with Appium for our Android, iOS app automation with out much issues, any how following factors that drive us to choose Appium over other tools

1. No code change is required in App
2. Use the device native instrumentation API to do testing
4. Uses Wedriver testing standard protocol, support truly cross platform, open source

Thanks,
GP

These awards are for year 2012. Even if Appium did exist during those days it was not matured to the extent it is today.

I guess today, Appium clearly stands out compared to other tools due to mainly the reasons which GnanaPrakash has mentioned.

Programming can be fun, so can cryptography; however they should not be combined.

Yep, as Aniket mentioned, it's good to take the timeline into context. One could say Selenium isn't the best web automation tool if/when you look at any articles dating back before Selenium gained maturity.

We started off using MonkeyTalk in 2012 (maybe even part of 2013) for mobile app testing (and iPhoneDriver that was part of Selenium for mobile web) when it was the best tool of the time but have since switched over to Appium for both mobile app and mobile web testing, using the same codebase as our desktop web testing.
