Right now Eclipse is at 3.3.1 while Aptana is on a very old version of
Eclipse 3.2.2. When I try to install RIA Developer on Aptana it fails
with the following error:

RIA Developer for Java (0.9.1) requires plug-in
"org.eclipse.ant.core".

It installs fine with Eclipse 3.3.1, but I have no way of installing
Aptana RadRails because it only supports Eclipse 3.2.2.

So how do you install RIA Developer?....there doesn't seem to be a way
to do it.

Best,

Brian

I'm running RIA Developer on Eclipse 3.4, with RadRails 0.9.3.6479.

There are folks (Tejus,Nolan) who are running on 3.3 though (I believe).

Are you trying to install RIA Developer atop Aptana's custom branding of Eclipse (Aptana Studio)? I haven't tested that at all, and we likely won't be supporting that (since it's clearly missing standard Java plugins).

All this is moot though, as the next version of RIA Developer will remove the ant dependency, and use our command line tools for creating/building/updating/deployment projects.

I've got eclipse 3.3, aptana, aptana's rails ide, and the appclerator plugins all installed. I dont remember there being anything weird about installing rad rails on 3.3, except that it was an optional download after installing the core aptana.
