to Appcelerator Platform SDK
With the upcoming new release, we're going to be "upgrading" our GPL
license from version 2 to version 3. We've spent a good bit of time
talking with different people and other projects about this. As well,
I spent some time with Mark Radcliffe who was one of the key legal
minds that did the GPL draft changes.

So, with 2.1, we'll be moving to GPL version 3 or later. The "or
later" is important since version 2 didn't anticipate the ability to
license on future versions of the license.

We will be making one license exception as part of our license change
related to widgets and our widget API.

We will be excluding widgets from the GPL license - this means you
will be able to write widgets (or incorporate third-party non GPL or
even commercial code) that aren't subject to GPL. We will be making
this exclusion in tandem with our new widget community (separate
details to follow) with the desire to give our community the most
flexibility in how they build, incorporate or mashup widgets using
Appcelerator.
