Hello,

I made a client TCP extension for app inventor :

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/mitappinventortest/app-inventor-extensions/OCzEZC4FpEU

Please test it and report bugs.

Cheers,

Hi Jean
Please could you upload the source code of an example (.aia file) and not only the compiled .apk?

Thank you
BR
Giogio

Excellent extension. I'm trying to make and "LCD display" for my computer, using an old phone, to display CPU/GPU speed fan & temperatures.
I'm just a beginner with MIT App Inventor, so take it easy :)
Several problems:
- big android error if server is not running, just like Artur, on the other thread (Connection error - socket creation - falied to connect....)
- also, sometimes, force close error if server is not running
- if I first start android client, then PC server, client is not connecting
- the default port, 10000, is not working properly. If I display the port in my app, it says 0. As soon as I changed the port (some random, 7894) it is displayed corectly and connection is OK.

One more error: if server is not running, after timeout:
Title: Error
Message: Connect error (socket creation)
Button: End Application
Button is NOT working.
After 10-20 seconds, android message: Wait / Force Close

Hi,
Here is the error I get when the app crashes because of wifi going out of range. May shed some light on how to fix the extension:

04-13 12:56:55.674 E/AndroidRuntime(30469): com.google.appinventor.components.runtime.errors.YailRuntimeError: Connect error (read)recvfrom failed: ETIMEDOUT (Connection timed out)

Is there the possibility to have your extension with UDP funcionality?
I need to send HEX values via UDP but with the only UDP extension I can find online it's not possible, only ASCII chars so I cannot send 00 values for example..
thank you!

I'm able to compile offline the above ClientSocketAI2Ext.java extension, however instead of creating a separated ClientSocketAI2Ext.aix file, there were generated instead another file com.google.appinventor.components.runtime.aix containing not only the ClientSocketAI2Ext extension, but all others along with itself.

Does someone know how to do that?

I'm using the following headers at the java file:

package com.google.appinventor.components.runtime;

instead of the original header:

package com.gmail.at.moicjarod;

BTW, I'm following this tutorial on how to compile extensions:

Solved by using precedures on section 3.3.1:

t's not mine, but from Jean Rodolphe, author of this topic, and by the way, from what I saw, he updated the files of the original thread.

Side Note: I wonder why the moderators closed the original thread; update news could be announced from there.
