jBridge - run on the desktop without a simulator?

Hello!

I'm looking for a library to use in my Java-based Intro To Programming class that will allow students to easily generate a phone app.

Is it possible to run jBridge programs on the desktop without having to install Android Studio / a phone simulator?  

This sounds like it would be a lot of work to make it happen, so I'm guessing the answer is 'No' (and that's fine) but I figured that I'd ask just in case.
