Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have watched endless tutorials the last several days and every one of them have not worked after trying on my phone. Yours is the first one to finally work! Hallelujah!!! One thing I wanted to let you know is that after you download the .aia file from your link and open it in App Inventor, the blocks don't show up in the block editor. It gives you an error and then shows two empty blocks. Again, thanks for the tutorial!

PS. Do you think you could make a part 2 of sorts talking about how to edit something in your list and then re-save it? Then maybe talk about how you could always shows whats stored in the tinydb in some sort of label?

Great Job!

Hmm. I tried importing the aia from this post and it showed all of the blocks.

I will make a short video to demo those two things and put the link here when done so check back...

Scott...Great stuff! I appreciate all the work you put into these video tutorials. Besides learning this myself, I have been getting my 10 year old daughter into the mix for her to learn also. She has been showing a lot of interest in programming.... especially games. With these videos, I am hoping to show her how easy programming can be. (I am hoping she turns into my little geek!) Thanks again for all you do! Jeff

This simple to-do list project uses a listpicker and tinydb to display and store items.
The user can add items and delete items from the list.
Basic feedback for add and delete operations is given via notifier dialogs.
Potential error conditions are avoided by testing if the item is blank before adding or deleting an item.
An item is considered blank when the Text trim block is applied to it (removing leading and trailing spaces), and the Text is empty block returns true
If the list is empty, then the Del button is disabled -- you cannot delete an item from an empty list.

You must create that procedure.
It is not a built-in block.
