Slideshow with links

I'm trying to figure out how I can create a slideshow with each of the
images being able to link to a different URL/Page. I have tried a few
different things but can't get anything to work. Has anyone else come
across this issue and solved it?

I think, You should create new model with your external links for each image: aImage -> externalLinks

so, You can select as usualy all your postts/articles/pages with images, then just join externalLinks to the aImage...
