Dear Friends,
Dec. 31st is my birthday. After my first year as a priest, I've learned that it is better to admit these things and move on with life, rather than attempt to hide them and fail utterly (my mom spilled the beans my first year). I have many many things to be grateful for and can think of no better way to finish the year and celebrate my birthday than a Mass at the Basilica offered in particular for my parents.
Mass will be held at 11:30am in the Lourdes chapel of the National Basilica in Washington DC. After Mass everyone is invited (although let me know if you are coming so I can make reservations) to come to Rustico near Ballston Mall for lunch. I would be pleased if many of you can make it to Mass, lunch, or both. Those who cannot make it to the Basilica but can come for lunch, I would guess that we will arrive around 1pm or so. I believe this will be a fairly low key event. Please also feel free to bring a friend if you like.
Oh, and another thing, no gifts (or cards) please- your presence and prayers are more than I deserve and more precious than gifts. Also, I don't want any of you to feel any sort of obligation if they come.
Merry Christmas, and I hope to see you soon,
Fr. Weber
