Dear Friends,
I hope that you are enjoying the snows!  Snow and Ice bless the Lord!  Below are some of our upcoming events- there are some very important ones and I hope that all of you can join us:

Avila Society, Sunday Feb. 16, 6:15pm in the Church then Burke Hall

St. Gregory Guild, Sunday Feb. 16, 7:30pm in the Rectory

Brunch and Byzantine Art: Sunday, Feb. 23, meet after 11am Mass in parking lot

Bible Study on the book of Daniel: Sun. March 2, 6:15pm in Burke Hall

Morning of Recollection: Sat. March 8, 9:00am Mass - 12:30pm.

Avila Society, Sunday Feb. 16, 6:15pm in the Church then Burke Hall.
The Avila Society is a women's group for spiritual formation and fellowship.  We will study Pius XII's letter to large families that highlights the beauty of God's plan and calls us to respond generously.  This is a very important document for everyone as it assists us in countering the predominant culture in which we find ourselves.  It is a help to us to put on the mind of Christ and imitate his generosity.

St. Gregory Guild, Sunday Feb. 16, 7:30pm in the Rectory
We will humble our minds by engaging St. Augustine's own struggles in His search for the Truth.  We will begin with prayer and confessions will be available as well.

Brunch and Byzantine Art: Sunday, Feb. 23, meet after 11am Mass in parking lot
The National Gallery of Art is hosting a Byzantine exhibit that highlights much of the religious art and icons from the East.  We will meet after the 11am Mass before going into the city to the national gallery of art.  The exhibit is free although parking will likely cost between 10 and 15 dollars per car.

Bible Study on the book of Daniel: Sun. March 2, 6:15pm in Burke Hall
Need I say more? Perhaps we can go out for a pre-lent beer at the end of the meeting

Morning of Recollection: Sat. March 8, 9:00am Mass - 12:30pm.
Please invite others to our morning of recollection.  We will seek to take some quiet time in the Lord, taking rest for our souls as we begin the holy and grace filled season of lent.  Please see the attached flyer for more information and please RSVP if you will be coming.

See you there!  Gob bless,
Fr. Weber

Brunch and Byzantine.  On February 23rd, we will meet after the 11am Mass to head over to Cava Mezze for brunch, followed by a trip to the National Gallery of Art and the exhibit on Byzantine artwork.  The tradition of icons figures prominently in byzantine art as an expression of Incarnational Theology.  For more information, see the young adult page of the Cathedral website: http://www.cathedralstm.org/parish-ministries/parish-and-community-life/young-adults/index.aspx

Bible Study: March 2, 6:15pm.  March 2nd and 9th we will continue to study the book of Daniel and living out wisdom in an antagonistic world.  March 2nd we will study Daniel chapter 4.

Morning of Recollection: March 8, begins with 9am Mass.  Join us to kickstart Lent by taking time for prayer and recollection.  There will be food provided after Mass followed by a talk and small groups.  Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 11am with confessions available as well.
