Dear Friends,
On this day let us particularly remember the Christian understanding of Thanksgiving: The Eucharist. Therefore let us give thanks to almighty God that we have been called to enter into the New Covenant sealed in His blood, and our thanksgiving is properly offered to God in union with our Eucharistic Lord.
We will have a Bible Study this coming Sunday. We will look at the book of revelation, but rather than continue on in a linear manner, we will look at several passages scattered in the book in order to contemplate the vision of the Church and the heavenly liturgy. After this Bible study and one more on revelation, we will move to another book of sacred scripture.
On December 8th, following the Spanish Mass, St. Thomas More will also have a fiesta in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Everyone is welcome to attend, but I also would like to request volunteers to assist with serving food at the fiesta. Regrettably, there are still many things that separate the English speaking and Spanish speaking communities at St. Thomas and elsewhere, but it is through our presence in service and a shared celebration that we can begin to bridge some of the divisions. If you are willing to assist, please send me an email. I believe that we will be in Burke hall beginning around 2:20 or 2:30 on Sunday Dec. 8.
Thank you! and Happy thanksgiving!
Fr. Weber
