Dear brothers of Region III

The brothers of Eta Phi at American University would like to formally challenge our fellow brothers of Region III to fundraiser-off!

The brothers of Eta Phi are currently working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic to help promote their Jeans for Wishes fundraising campaign. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  April 29th is the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America’s World Wish Day, and it is the goal of the Mid-Atlantic chapter to paint the District (and its surrounding areas) denim blue.  On Friday April 29th, we are looking to get every professional and every student to go to work or school in blue jeans. Each person involved would donate $5, receive an “I’m wearing Jeans for Wishes” button, and will proudly wear a pair of their favorite jeans on Friday the 29th. It’s a simple way to help raise funds for local wish children facing life-threatening medical conditions.

If helping kids wasn’t already a great reason to get involved – here is another… The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic will present the chapter that raises the most money with a winner’s trophy. This APO & Jeans for Wishes designed trophy will be past from winning chapter to winning chapter each year. So that means the winning chapter will have bragging rights over all of the chapters from Region II and Region III for a whole year! That is a lot of APO bragging!!!

If your chapter is interested in this amazing partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic and thinks they can out fundraiser the brothers of Eta Phi, please follow these simple steps:

1.     Sign up by contact Hannah Oppenheim, hoppe...@gmail.com, informing her of your chapter’s name, a contact person, and an idea of any dates you’ll be fundraising. Additionally, each chapter will need to fill out a simple “Wishmakers on Campus” form that will be sent to them by Hannah.  Once you have completed the Wishmakers on Campus form, we have a wide range of promotional materials available for your chapter’s use, including advertisements to send to your schools’ newspapers or email list-serves as well as the Jeans for Wishes and Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic logos.

2.     RECRUIT! RECRUIT! RECRUIT! Get everyone you can to sign up and support Jeans for Wishes.
Who to recruit: schoolmates, friends, other clubs and organizations, faculty members, professors, university staff members…
Selling point: 100% of proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic and its important wish-granting mission
Remember the more people you can get involved, the better your chances of winning! A little friendly competition between chapters never hurt anyone…
3.     Fundraiser – your chapter can fundraiser in any way they see fit – like tabling on-campus, contacting your school’s newspapers, going class-to-class. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic will provide as many buttons as you may need, and any information on Jeans for Wishes to each chapter involved, so it's up to your chapter to get creative with your fundraising efforts.

4.     Pick out your favorite pair of jeans and wear them along with your Jeans for Wishes button! Don’t forget to take pictures! Both Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic and APO Region III want to see the efforts of your chapter!

5.     Send in the funds you raised to the Make-A-Wish office. Chapters can send either cash, or checks (made out to The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic) to

5272 River Road, Suite 700
Bethesda, Maryland 20816
Please make sure that your University’s name and your chapter name is clearly written either in the check memo, or on the envelope.

If your chapter has any questions please feel free to contact either Hannah Oppenheim (hoppe...@gmail.com) Eta Phi’s President Tori Frappaolo (pres...@auapo.net) or Katie Dankowski from Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic (kdank...@midatlantic.wish.org)
